Abstract:
The reversible 1-electron oxidation of [meso-tetraphenylporphinato(2-) ]nickel (Ni(II)TPP) generates the corresponding Ni(II) π-cation radical [Ni(II)TPP]+. , which shows an EPR spectrum at 300 oK with g = 2.0041. When a solution of the [Ni(II)TPP]+. is cooled to 77 oK an intramolecular electron transfer occurs to give the Ni(III)TPP which shows an EPR spectrum with gperp = 2.286 and gparall = 2.086.
