The Phosphonate Moiety: Labelling with 99mTechnetium(tin) after Synthetic Attachment to Diverse Biological Compounds

3-Amino-3-carboxypropylphosphonic acid (ACPA), synthesized from the reaction of di-ethyl 2-bromoethyl phosphonate and diethylacetamidomalonate by the procedure of L. D. Quin and D. A. Mathewes (1974), was labeled with 99mTc by adding SnCl2 to an ACPA solution, shaking and then adding Na 99mTcO4 ; labeling efficiency was >99%. Following purification the full biological distribution of 99m Tc-labeled AcPA was examined in rabbits. 99mTc accumulated mainly in the liver, heart, kidney, and intestine.
