The oxidative addition of trans-1-bromo-2-fluorocyclohexane to trans-Ir(PMe3)2COCl, as followed by ir and NMR spectra, proceeds with inversion of configuration at the carbon center. This strongly indicates these reactions follow an SN2 mechanism and the process of oxidative addition is very similar to nucleophilic displacement reactions of anionic Fe(0) and Co(I) complexes.
