Preparation and Characterization of Some Ruthenium(II) Porphyrins Containing Tertiary Phosphine Axial Ligands, Including the Crystal Structure of (Octaethyl-porphinato)-bis-(triphenylphosphine)Ruthenium(II)

The crystal structure of (OEP)Ru(PPh3)2 (OEP = octaethylporphyrin dianion), prepared from (OEP)Ru(CO)(EtOH), was determined. Also prepared were Ru(TPP)(L2) [I; TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin; L = PPh3, PC6H4OMe-p)3, PBu3] and Ru(TPP)(CO)PPh3. Phosphine ligands dissociate from Ru(OEP)L2 and I to give 5-coordinate species. The equilibrium constants for dissociation were determined in PhMe at 20 oC.
