Abstract:
Treatment of 1,19-disubstituted 1,19-dideoxybiladiene-ac dihydrobromides with Ni or Co salts in the presence of a base and oxygen leads to the formation, in a good yield, of 1,19-disubstituted tetradehydrocorrin metal salts. A variety of these compounds was prepared. Spectral evidence for the structure of the products is presented, and the metal salts of the 1,19-bis(ethoxycarbonyl)-tetradehydrocorrins were converted to the corresponding corrole metal complexes by removal of the ester groups. Hydrogenation of a Ni tetradehydrocorrin chloride gives a monodehydrocorrin Ni complex, and a similar hydrogenation of the corresponding Co derivative gives a product, which may be a didehydrocorrin Co complex.
