Porphocyanine and CNC-Expanded Porphyrins
CNC-expanded porphyrins such as I (R1a = R1b = R2a = R2b = R3a = R3b = R4a = R4b = H, alkyl, etc.; R2c = R4c = H, substituted Ph, etc.) were prepared for use as MRI contrast agents. Thus, I (R1a = R1b = R2a = R2b = R3a = R3b = R4a = R4b = Et, R2c = R4c = H) was prepared starting from 2-benzyloxycarbonyl-3,4-diethyl-5-methylpyrrole. The prepared compounds were tested for toxicity against human erythrocytes and binding selectivity for P815 tumor cells.
